Fosters Clubhouse
Arts and crafts activities with intellectually disabled adults and their families
The Community Living Central Toronto Council, of which I am a member, shapes opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities and their families downtown Toronto.
One of these opportunities is to meet and socialize at the Fosters Clubhouse with food, live musical performers, and creative activities. In the holiday season even Santa and his Elf drop in to join the festivities!
My contribution to these events has been to facilitate arts and crafts with guests.
In June 2025 we painted flower pots, and provided herb seeds and potting soil for guests to bring home with them. Even people who don't usually engage in crafting were drawn in and had fun making something cute and colourful for their home.
At the holiday party we decorated cookies and made our own holiday cards.
I love any excuse to roll out my extensive sticker collection, and this was a great one. The stickers were a big hit for card making, being easy for everybody to peel and stick as many as they wanted on their cards for maximum glitz and glam. The activity was very popular and has been requested again for 2026!
