about

Hi! I'm Sarah Imrisek (cymatiste). I'm a mural artist and a community arts facilitator and art educator. My passion is making art in the streets and with the community. My practice is based in Tkaronto/Toronto, Ontario, Canada, but you can also see my murals in Hamilton, Ontario and Chicago, Illinois.

Street art has always been a source of comfort for me during tough times. Long before I started painting my own murals, I found comfort in wandering the city,  photographing graffiti and public art. These artworks speak to our shared struggles and aspirations. Now, I’m proud to contribute my artistic voice to city projects and to support other emerging artists. I see public art as a way to foster solidarity, connection, creativity and collaboration.

I take pride in creating eye catching, high quality interior and exterior murals. I bring a wide range of experience to my craft. I've worked in graphic design and illustration as well as residential and commercial painting, with training in working at heights and operating lifts. I am comfortable working in a variety of styles and mediums to suit any aesthetic and have a flexible scale of pricing options. I can even develop augmented reality enhancements to add a digital layer to physical artworks. Clients appreciate my dedication to bringing their vision to life with precision and creativity. Let’s make something beautiful together!

"cymatiste" is derived from cymatics, the study of sound vibrations on a physical medium. Even if you've never heard the word, you've probably seen videos where someone sprinkled sand on top of a speaker and it formed beautiful changing patterns in response to different frequencies in the sound. I try to bring the invisible -- energy, spirit, joy -- to light through my art, and to help others discover and develop their own creative talents through workshops and community art activations.
